Forecourt Distribution Modules

The Forecourt Distribution Modules (FDMs) complement The Enabler, providing the physical and electronic format to suit each manufacturer's equipment. Registered customers can see our Pump Support page for information on which FDM is required for each type of pump.

They also provide a simple and effective means to terminate forecourt wiring for connection to The Enabler.

The FDMs include a number of specific features based on the needs of the forecourt environment:

Passive FDM

This FDM is an unpowered device, providing manual isolating switches, lightning/surge protection, and 8 screw connectors. It provides a cost-effective alternative to the distribution boxes offered by some pump manufacturers.

The Passive FDM is used to connect RS-485 pumps such as Tatsuno SS-LAN, Dresser Wayne DART, and Nuovo Pignone, and also to connect IFSF devices.

Active FDMs

For other protocols, such as Gilbarco, Dresser Wayne US, and Tokheim we have designed a selection of powered FDM cards.

Each card is designed for a specific 2, 3 or 4-wire physical connection, so they have a variety of features and connectors.

Features

  • Diagnostic LEDs
LED indicators show channel status for quick diagnosis in the field (except passive FDM).
  • Screw Connectors
    For simple installation.
  • Faulty Channel Isolation
Each forecourt connection can be isolated, either automatically or by a switch. All new Active FDM designs use automatic electronic isolation.
  • Electrical Isolation
For pumps which don't internally isolate the communication circuit, the FDM contains optical isolation to prevent ground loops and other problems.
  • Multiple Communication Channels
Active FDMs typically provide 8 pump communications channels. For most common protocols, this allows connection to 8 dispensers, or 16 fueling positions.
  • Free format mounting
Allows field installers to choose an appropriate mounting box, or to mount the card inside an existing switchboard cabinet.
  • Compact Size
The largest FDM designs are 205mm x 90mm (8" x 3.75"), and 30mm (1.2") high. Some modules are slightly smaller.
