Enabler v2.2x
In legacy Enabler versions (2.2x or lower), setting up the the display format is not as intuitive as the newer Enabler releases. In these versions the display format was either fixed (where the pump allowed only one configuration) or embedded into the pump type name as shown below.
Normally, the basic pump type names are suffixed with the Price and the Delivery Value format.
Example: The pump type name 'Kraus/GilbUS 99.99$/L $9999.9' refers to the Kraus/ Gilbarco US pump type with the Price display format set to 99.99$ and the Delivery value format to $9999.9.
This method was deprecated since it only allows a limited number of combination of display formats. Please let us know if you're still based on Enablver v2.2x and your pump's display format is not listed.
ATTENTION: Before you read any further, note that the following protocols work differently to most. If you are using one of these read the notes below and the Pump FAQ for advice.
| Pump Protocol | Special Notes about Display Format |
| Wayne US |
Delivery values can also depend on the pump type used. Check the advice on the FAQ page for more information. |
| Gilbarco US |
You must also check for 5 vs 6 digit mode. Check the advice on the FAQ page for more information. |

What Is A Display Format?
To allow for the differences between pumps, and pricing in different regions, The Enabler provides a setting to tell The Enabler how the pump display shows the Price, Money Total (or value) and Volume. We call this setting a Display Format.
The Display Format can be selected on the Pumps page of the Enabler Configuration Application. For flexibility, this option is set for each pump (in case you have a mixture of pump types or protocols). If pumps behave differently to others of the same type, you should check this setting is correct.
For Enabler v2.2x and older versions, the display format and pump type are combined. We provide one drop-down combo to select both, including combinations for common pump display configurations. For example:
9.999$/L - $999.99 - 999.99L
9.999$/L - $999.999 - 999.999L
9.999$/L - $9999.99 - 999.99L
and so on...
Every time you change the Display Format, you should do at least one test delivery to check that everything is correct. We recommend doing a few test deliveries with different values just to be sure.
Common Problems
When the pump and The Enabler show different values, the differences fall into three main categories:
- The price set in the pump is out by a factor of 10 or 100 from what is entered in the database. For example: the database might show $1.234 but the pump displays $0.123.
- The delivery volume or value is out by a factor of 10 or 100. For example:
| the pump display shows |
$20.00 |
30.000L |
| The Enabler display shows |
$ 2.00 |
3.000L |
- The delivery value or volume is almost correct, but seems to be rounded differently. For example:
| the pump display shows |
$23.45 |
34.567L |
| The Enabler display shows |
$23.45 |
34.570L |
The sections below offer suggestions for each of these cases, and explain why they happen.
1. Price Is Out By 10 or 100
This happens when the Price part of the Display Format selected has a different number of decimal places than the display on the pump.
Note that there are also some display formats in c/L rather than $/L.
2. Delivery Volume Or Value Is Out By 10 or 100
This happens when the Display Format selected has a different number of decimal places than the display on the pump.
If the Value display on the pump shows two decimal places, you should select a Display Format including a $999.99 or $9999.99 money format. If you are using the new Enabler Configuration set Value to 0.00.
3. Delivery Volume Or Value Is Being Rounded
This can also happen when the Display Format selected has a different number of decimal places than the display on the pump. The example shown above might happen if a Display Format with 999.99L (or Volume 0.00) is selected, when the pump display shows three decimal places.
If the pump display shows delivery volume with 3 decimal places you should select a Display Format with 999.999L (or set Volume to 0.000) as the volume format.
The Displays Still Show Different Values
We hope the advice above makes the process easier to understand, but finding the right display format for a pump type you have not setup before can be a process of trial and error, so don't give up.
We suggest you read the FAQ for the specific pump type you are using. On some pumps differences can occur between the pump and Enabler displays for reasons not mentioned in this FAQ.
If you have checked all of the suggestions above, and the pump display does not agree with The Enabler ActiveX we suggest you send us an email including the following details:
- Description of what is wrong, and which values are not correct
- Type of pump being used
- Include a copy of the loop logs (from c:\enabler\log\)
- If the delivery details are incorrect:
- Let us know whether this problem happens all the time, or only for some deliveries
- Include a list of the delivery values displayed on the pump that we can match to entries in the log files
Finally, if you have checked this page and worked through all these suggestions, please let us know. If you don't, we will probably suggest you follow the suggestions on this page.
Note: for simplicity - this FAQ has been written assuming money is in dollars ($) and volume is in litres (L). Of course this depends on your site, many use a different unit of currency or volume.
