Message during install: "Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system..."

Make sure you have installed the latest service pack for your operating system. This will remove the need to update system files.

This message can also mean that there are left over files in your Temporary folder or the folder is set up incorrectly.

Close programs that are running, clear out your temp directory, and try the installation again. Also check the related items below.

Note: Your temporary directory may be difficult to find. On Windows 2000, it defaults to:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp

and the Local Settings directory is hidden. You can find the exact location of your temp directory by going to a command prompt and typing:

set temp

and pressing enter.
